Based in Portland, April Mallery is a self-taught oil painter and lapidary artist whose work is inspired by her experiences of the Northern Lights during a transformative solo backpacking trip to Norway. She paints vibrant starscapes that reflect the mesmerizing colors and beauty of the aurora, having witnessed them several times during her travels. In her four years as an artist, April has gained a plethora of inspiration from working on an elk refuge in the deeply forested and foggy coast range, to her time as a pilot in training where surfing above the hues of sunrise and sunset intensified her fascination with clouds. Honing her skill with each brushstroke,  blending her love for land, sea, and sky, April's work is an exploration of the elements.
